Geographically, Basail is located between latitude 24.90 'and 24.18' north latitude and 89.58 'east longitude. Basail is 19 km east-south of Tangail district headquarters. Banshi river flows in a strange curve marking Sakhipur upazila on the eastern border of Basail upazila. Mirzapur and Delduar upazilas on the south, district headquarters Tangail on the west and Kalihati upazila on the north.
