Banshi river is the eastern boundary river of Basail upazila. The river originates from the old Brahmaputra, reaches Madhupur via Jamalpur, joins the tributaries of the Banar and Jhinai rivers and continues to flow south-east. It separated Basail and Sakhipur and came to Kaliakair through Mirzapur and divided into two parts. One part, that is, the main stream, goes further south-east under the name of Turag river and falls into the Buriganga via Dhaka-Mirpur. The other part falls further south from Kaliakair to Dhaleshwari via Savar.
